Remembrance Day
This morning, our College commemorated Remembrance Day with a Remembrance Day Service. Students and staff gathered on the Junior School Oval for the service. Each class had the opportunity to lay a class wreath during the ceremony and we all observed two minutes of silence. At 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month each year, we remember the moment in 1918 when World War I came to an end. Today, we remember all who have served, and continue to serve in our armed forces, especially those who have died and those wounded in battle. We also pray for healing and peace; that one day, all peoples will lay down their arms and embrace one another as brothers and sisters.
MTCC Astronomy Night
The College will be holding its annual Astronomy night on Thursday 24 November 2022. Parents and students are invited to attend. There will be two volunteers attending with their telescopes and the community is encouraged to bring their telescopes as well. We will be looking at the moon, planets and familiar constellations. At this point, all we need are clear skies.
Some refreshments will be supplied (Tea, coffee, biscuits, etc). We expect to start at 6.30pm on the Secondary oval and pack-up around 9.00pm at the latest.
CSPA/CSDPA Joint Forum Day
On Friday 4 November, our College hosted the Catholic Secondary Principals Association (CSPA) and Catholic Secondary Deputy Principals Association (CSDPA) Joint Forum Day. Over 100 Catholic College Principals, Vice Principals, Deputies and special guests from across Western Australia joined together for an important day of discussion and professional learning. We were very proud to host this event and have the opportunity to showcase our College, students and staff. Congratulations to all involved in ensuring the success of the day!
Risks of Vaping Presentation
On Wednesday 9 November, Azelene Williams from Perennial Health Institute delivered a presentation on the risks of vaping to our Year 8-11 students. Azelene drew on her own experience as a teenager who smoked and later turned to vaping. Through extensive research, she used current evidence which contributed to theory and health aspects of the presentation. She discussed key concepts and theories around vaping and nicotine addiction. We hope this presentation will encourage our students to make informed and positive choices around vaping.

KIC iSCIENCE graduation – Monday 7 November
On the evening of Monday 7 November, students participating in this term’s KIC iSCIENCE Project graduated the 7-day program. It was a chance for them to present what they had done and learnt to their parents/caregivers and representatives from their schools and industry. Congratulations to Year 10 students Cody McGill and Luciano Melloni Cruces, who took part in the program, and to all the other students who attended from other schools. We hope that the skills and information they learnt will help shape their future personal and professional journeys. Workshops included team building activities, career pathways and goal setting, STEM activities, health and wellbeing, resumes and interview skills. They also visited Murdoch University, the Construction Futures Centre, Alcoa and Tronox.
Cody McGill:
‘My favourite part of the program was touring Murdoch University and seeing all of the amazing facilities. During the program we were taught many different things, but the main thing was how much volunteering effects the community. I recommend this program because it shows the many different opportunities there are in the surrounding industrial areas.’
Luciano Melloni Cruces:
‘I highly enjoyed this years KIC program, I met awesome new people and learnt how to work in a team with them. I really enjoyed the trip to the Murdoch university campus, especially the veterinary department as we got the chance to talk to people at the facility and they showed us around. I would suggest any Year 10 students should do it, as it is a very unique opportunity for students from our school.’
