NSI Survey Reminder

Dear Parents and Caregivers

We are currently collecting information to help us make informed decisions about how we can improve our school. The aim of this process is to build and maintain a positive school climate in which your child/children will flourish. To help us in our efforts, we are inviting you to respond to the Parent and Caregiver Survey (PaCS), developed at Curtin University. Your response will provide us with the information and foundational focus points that we will use in planning our school improvement efforts.

Your confidentiality
To protect your confidentiality, the PaCS is completely anonymous, there are no names attached to the data and there is no way for us to access your individual response. All responses go directly to NSI, where the results are analysed and aggregated into feedback reports. NSI is bound by a Code of Ethics and follows strict professional conduct.

Use of the data
NSI will aggregate all responses and provide us with a comprehensive feedback report. To enable us to target our decisionmaking, we may be provided with information based on your background information (e.g., are you the mother, father or caregiver). To protect your anonymity, we will only be provided with this information when responses from four or more people fall within any given category.

How to complete the survey
Using the information at the bottom of this page, you will be taken to our school’s PaCS where you will be asked to respond to statements that ask about your perception of different aspects of the school climate. These statements are about practices that may take place in our school, and we ask that you indicate how often you feel each statement takes place. All statements require your response. If you have more than one child at the school, we ask that you consider responding more than once as our students often have different experiences at school when compared to their siblings. The PaCS will ask you to indicate whether you are responding once for all of your children or if you are responding separately for each child. If you decide to respond once for all your children, you will not be asked to tell us what year level each child is in.

To respond to the PaCS at Mother Teresa Catholic College, please go to www.NSIPartnerships.com.au
and enter the code MTCCPACS in the Start Questionnaire field

If you require more information or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us or the NSI Team.
Email: NSITeam@NSIPartnerships.com.au

Your time and consideration are appreciated and we look forward to working with you to improve our school.

Sean Pollard Presentation

On Tuesday, our Year 9 and 11 students were lucky enough to hear from 2014 shark attack survivor Sean Pollard. Sean shared a recount of his traumatic shark attack experience whilst surfing in Esperance, where he lost his left arm and right hand, but miraculously survived the ordeal.Sean's story is one of resilience, optimism and courage. He shared his incredible journey in overcoming the massive mental and physical hurdles which eventually led him to achieve his goal of competing in the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in South Korea. Sean delivered an inspiring presentation that captured what it is that allowed him to turn an incredible challenge into a positive outcome. Sean explained the importance of maintaining a positive outlook to build resilience through life's many hardships.

Thank you for the inspiring presentation, Sean! Our students have learnt a valuable lesson in courage and resilience.

Year 11 Drama - Performance of Hoods

Tuesday 25 October 7pm - Occupied Stairs

Students in year 11 Drama ATAR and General have worked hard during term 3 to direct and design all aspects of the Australian play Hoods by Angela Betzien.

Hoods is a contemporary tale of Hansel and Gretel. The title characters of Hoods are a pair of train-fare evaders who run off into a wrecker's yard at night and start unpicking a story of childhood abandonment from one of the old cars. Tough, entertaining, and funny, it examines subjects such as marginalised youth, suburban poverty, domestic violence and childhood obesity in a style akin to a live video game.

Recommended Age & Warnings: Recommended 12+

Adult Themes domestic violence and poverty

Sustainability News

The students were excited to see ‘Sally the Scarecrow’ return to school after visiting the Perth Royal Show. The Royal Agricultural Society awarded Sally third place in the Scarecrow Across the Seasons School Competition where 68 other schools competed.

Our Amazing Green Team and many other students created Sally using reused, recycled and repurposed materials showcasing the types of food produced from each season. A big thank you to all our students, Mrs Cipriano for her creativity, Mrs Hodgson, Mrs Lethby and Mr Torres for Sally’s clothes and boots.

This week the students completed the sentence, ‘A garden is a place to…’ Come and have a read of the responses on the blackboard.

There were some fantastic Waste Free Wednesday lunches this week. Well done to parents and students for helping to reduce our waste around the school. You are all Waste Free Champions!
