Year 11 River Cruise

  • Mother Teresa Catholic College 731 Eighty Road Baldivis, WA, 6171 Australia (map)

We are pleased to announce that there is a special social event that has been organised for the Year 11 students. This is a river cruise being held on the Crystal Swan on the evening of Friday 24 March 2023. Tickets will be $95 per student and will cover the cost of transport to and from Barrack Street Jetty, canapés, and soft drink onboard the cruise, and the cost of the cruise itself. Students who have any dietary requirements need to ensure they specify these when purchasing their ticket.

Students will be leaving the College promptly at 5:45pm to travel by bus to Barrack Street Jetty, will cruise down the Swan River from 7-10pm and will return to the College at approximately 11pm. Students will not have the option to be collected from Barrack Street Jetty and must be collected from the College at the end of the evening.

Tickets must be purchased via the TryBooking website, and the link is included here for your convenience. https://www.trybooking.com/CGBUB. Booking also requires the completion of student agreement to the terms and conditions, dietary requirements, emergency contact details, and any pertinent medical information. Ticket sales via this link will be open until 4pm on Friday 10th March.

There are several booking terms and conditions involved with attending this event; purchasing a ticket means that students and parents/caregivers will be agreeing to these terms and conditions for this event. Part of the requirements of this event includes student attendance at school, TAFE or your workplace learning for the entirety of the day on Friday, 24th March. Students who do not attend school, TAFE or their relevant workplace learning will not be permitted to attend the social event.

Please read the dress code requirements carefully as students are expected to exhibit a high level of grooming and presentation for the cruise. Students are expected to wear smart casual/semi formal attire in keeping with standards expected of a College-based event. Please note that some current trends would not be considered suitable attire for this event, and students must maintain dress that is neat, respectable, and modest. If students have any questions about their attire choices, they should speak with the Year 11 Coordinator. Please also note that it is an OH&S requirement for the Crystal Swan Cruise that all passengers wear flat shoes (no heels).

If there is any student who exhibits behaviour during the event that is deemed inappropriate, disrespectful, or harmful to themselves, their peers, or supervising teachers then they will be removed from the activities until the boat is docked and the bus returns to the College. Further consequences may also be necessary, and this will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

We are excited to offer this experience to students. This event is an opportunity for students to unwind and socialise in a different environment and enjoy the company of their peers. Please do not hesitate to contact the College or myself should you have any questions about the event.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we celebrate with this group of young adults as they move through their final years of formal secondary education.
