Message from the Principal

Mr. Joe Hoyne
Principal

Wednesday 30 October morning we held a Year 7 -11 Assembly to recognise the achievements of students in Year 7-11 in the Australian Mathematics Competition, Community Service Learning and to announce the student leaders for 2025.

During the year we have acknowledged the giftedness of students in a variety of areas including several Arts activities in particular, the College Arts and Technology Evening which was held in Week 3. Sporting achievements at College events and ACC activities have been announced throughout the year at various assemblies and school gathering. Congratulations to students who have received recognition this year for various achievements. As a Catholic school it is important we recogniser and celebrate outstanding achievement in all domains – Spiritual, Education, The Arts, Sport and Service.

The ATAR examinations have commenced for our Year 12 students and these will continue over the coming week. We keep these students in our prayers at this time as they complete these important examinations. Our current Year 11s have commenced their examinations at MTCC and once these have completed the Year 9 and 10s will begin a period of exams. It is important students are aware of the expectations and requirements for these examinations and if parents or students have questions please contact the College to clarify questions you may have.

I look forward to the remainder of the school year to be involved in further celebrations that highlight student achievement and performances in particular the Year 6 celebration and the Family Christmas Concert to held on Thursday 5 December. It has been pleasing to attend the Junior school assemblies on a Monday morning, over the past semester to witness the good work students have done and to those students who have received Making Jesus Real certificates for displaying the characteristics of positive work and relationships.

CONGRATULATIONS:

We are in awe of Maisie Simpson in Year 4, who is planning to cut off her hair to donate it to make wigs for cancer patients and she’s also fundraising for cancer research.

Her Nan was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in 2022, which has affected her eyes, brain, and lungs. Though she has lost one eye, she is doing well with her treatment and is in good spirits—despite the frequent pirate jokes she’s become the star of!

Here’s the link to Maisie’s fundraising page if anyone wants to donate:

Book Fairs

The two book fairs over the last fortnight have been an amazing success. We hope to build the high school book fair next year to make it even bigger and better. The Scholastic Book Fair wasn’t as busy as normal, but we still managed to raise lots for the library and purchase some amazing books that will be available in 2025.

Thank you so much for all your support with both fairs.

Book Club

Orders from issue 7 of Book Club will be arriving very soon. These will be delivered to students in class, or you will get an email if you chose the gift option.

The final issue of Book Club for 2024 will also be arriving soon. Keep an eye out! This is a great place to get some Christmas gifts, and they can be ordered as a gift which means they will be a surprise for the students.

Reminders:

Next week is the last week students can borrow books.

All books are due back November 22nd.
